Let’s Spin a Bedtime Story
Thursday July 30th 7:00 pm
Attention to children of all ages! The New Hazlett Theater needs your help. We’ve brought together three amazing creators to spin a brand-new tale, but they are missing some of the details. Bring your pajamas and your popcorn and join storyteller Parag S. Gohel, cartoonist Joe Wos and musician David Bernabo on The Show Must Go(Online), to help them bring this new bedtime story to life. Wos will illustrate the story live to screen with prompts from the audience. Don’t miss the collaborative adventure for the whole family.

Redemption: SONS is hope. It is change. It is a parent’s soul split in two and fused back together again. An African American mother from Louisiana and a Boricua father from the South Bronx engage in a call and response “duologue” as they weave a story of race, ancestral memory, trauma, and healing.
Redemption: SONS premiered at the New Hazlett Theater in December of 2016. We will rebroadcast the full performance followed by a live question and answer session with creators Dr. Tameka Cage Conely and Dr. Jason Méndez.

Somewhere in the dark, a cyborg coven is performing a ritual for the future of humankind. Using movement, found text, and machine learning algorithms, they summon the Salem witch panic out of America’s colonial shadows. Featuring an all-queer ensemble, TERMINER shines a light on contemporary systems of power, and casts a spell of resistance and repair.
Philip Wesley Gates is a non-binary director, performance maker and writer/scholar currently based in Pittsburgh.
